True Story

Writer: Rose DonaldsonRose Donaldson

Imagine if you are ten years old

Excited with eyes all seeing

You see something secret happening

Try silence with all your being.

Well on that walk to the swimming baths

With teacher and class from school

All chatty with the teacher up front

Just to show you're nobodys' fool

Or was I, what was I thinking?

Clearly nothing as I continued to relay

A fight between teacher and brother

Pricked ears hearing the full display.

He called you a B#$%h I said proudly

As the teachers face went puce

The line of students halted crashingly

As my story ran out of juice.

A lesson learnt that fateful day

Don't listen to others anger

And certainly don't repeat it to them

As you will only be met with rancour.

Replying to

I think I thought me and the teach were pals! Ha! Believe me when I say truth and indiscretion were my bedfellows throughout my school days.

Very entertaining, having been on both sides of that fence.
