I hope you're sitting comfortably
Resting in your favourite chair
These are thoughts I have of xmas
Which I'd really like to share
The advent calendar full of chocolate
The xmas season just begun
But by the middle of December
You've eaten every one !
It's the thought, we're told, that counts
All wrapped up in a fancy box
I opened mine on Xmas day
It's panta and socks with spots !
Postage stamps cost far too much
So cards you do not send
But set aside a few incase
You get one from a friend
Who's turn is it to host this year ?
Your house or is it theirs ?
Will the table be big enough
Do you have that many chairs ?
Get the decorations from the loft
Which boxes are they in ?
Spend the day untangling them
Then throw most into the bin
A real tree, now that makes a change
Get a bargain down the market
But by the time the day arrives
Half of it is on the carpet ?
Last minute shopping, what have you forgot ?
What else have you to do ?
You head off to the supermarket
All of town is in the queue
The day arrives, the table set
You've remembered everything
Gaze apon your finnished table
It's a feast fit for a king
Talking of which, it's 3pm
Let's listen to the royal word
No longer a message from Elizabeth two
But Charles and he's the third
You sit and watch the same repeats
Paper hat still on your head
Altogether it's been good fun
And now it's time for bed
Merry Christmas - your poem says it all! 🎉
Feeling Festive, that’s the spirit. 🥃
Happy Christmas Keith
