The Oceans' Spell

Updated: Oct 30

There is something about the Ocean

That stills the very heart of me

Walking along the coastal paths

Releases the strings that tie

And the ties that bind.

The rolling waves or the surfers curl

The calm dead sea or the ripples that furl

Along the white sandy beach

With not a soul to nod hello

The strand is bare, I walk in peace

No crowds in tow.

In the early hours the Dunkin' Babes suit up to face

The daunting waves

Only seconds submerged, with hearts missing beats

Emerging with laughter set up for their day

Still salty ocean air to keep out the heat.

What power the ocean holds

How do I love the drag, smooth or bold

No mercy is shown to those sunken ships

Just Davey Jones Locker to welcome them to the abyss

Treat it with contempt though and it's terror will unfold.

I stare at it every day and never tire of it’s magic.
