The Midnight Poet

Writer: Alison BlevinsAlison Blevins

The midnight poet, lacking sleep,

seeks interesting words. Forty exactly.

Eight lines of alluring alliteration,

scintillating simile and the occasional

enjambment with which to tease

the reader - also an insomniac,

with a predilection for painting.

and reading poetry at midnight.

Very good indeed, did you have a Poet in mind or a plethora , a composite of 'the archetypal' poet?

I had a poet in mind but then thought it may apply to many.

Yes! It's so easy to slip over the five words per line, but you have it. A poet's poem! (For some reason, the system isn't enabling me to post)
