The Day After Today

Updated: Jul 28, 2024

Some people say the day

That comes after today

Is called tomorrow

But that tomorrow was days ago

It has no name

Or none that I know and

So it will have to stay

as the day after today

The day itself it started well

Some minor shopping, cupboards full

Tired limbs and tired mind

As if I had not slept at all

Before I knew it, it was late afternoon

Family arrived, as they ought to do

So there I was, sitting, listening in

Aa proud smile growing within

then suddenly I was gone

For half an hour, twitching away

Trying to tell the family I am okay

Then the ambulance came

Thankfully the oxygen’s gave

Saved me from an early grave
