The Contestant

The shame game where you get three darts and every single one sure as hell hits the mark

The blame game, a conveyor belt of goodies you’re supposed to desire

In front of the camera you had a chance to expose the liar

But you didn’t

So the wrongs stay hidden

This is the name game and I name you

To be the one to tell the truth

But it’s a long game and along the way it might just drive you a little insane

This is the same game you played as a child and each round you go through the crowd goes more wild

Points make prizes and prizes you won

But they were quite small and the games were not fun

This is the humiliation game and you will play, today and tomorrow.

There is no prize, the only thing you’ll leave with is sorrow

The game show host, is the one with the most

Smarmy charm with shiny white teeth and a big wide smile

He hands out some more prizes in his loud bouncy style

And all the while you can’t really compete

This game ain’t for victims, it’s for the elite

And you know all the balls go in the machine

But you have no doubt his slick mouth won’t be reading your numbers out.

Lucky

Luck is sold by the pound and you can’t even afford to ask for an ounce

You know the cheque would only bounce

You leave with nothing

This is channel four do not swear

But I swear the host was supposed to care

You are the weakest link

Anything you’d won, disappeared in a wink of his eye

In a blink

So just accept you gambled and lost

When you opened the box

That’s the cost of being a contestant

Whether it was your choice or not

Your participation will not be forgot
