Spring Time

as winter puts her coat on and bids goodbye

the season of Spring is a feast for the eyes

as mini beasts return from sleep

the grass in the garden can again be seen

a mix of luscious lemons and rosy reds

touching heads with punchy violets

in the flower beds

dancing together in a slight chilly breeze

the sound of trickling water from defrosting ponds

new seeds planted amongst the old

garden furniture taken out and put together

as we all hope for hot sunny weather

and naked trees newly adorned with waxed like leaves

full of buds of cheery blossoms and orchids white

encircle the garden with hazy sunlight

that begins to stretch the end of the day

encouraging children to go out and play

while sheets are aired on newly cleaned lines

and woolly clothing swapped for T-shirts and flip flops

as plans are made for holidays away

hot warm hearty foods are replaced

with food that helps the waist

while out of town in the countryside

new born ewes can be spied

and the Church prepares for Easter

bonnets are made to wear on parade

chocolate eggs are on display

and a feeling of renew is in the air

as birds gather and feed

make nests in the trees

then sing melodious tunes

that I love to listen to

so many things happen in Spring

and just as I feel it settling in

signs of Summer begin to show

I am always sad to see Spring go.
