Sand Dancing on the Beach

The Caesars had an empire, many many years ago

But the locals didn’t like it so they went and built a great big wall

Though they didn't have all the answers, they brought up troops from the deepest East

And settled them right on the Tyne, and there were Arabs on the beach

You can't change history, or have every answer

But will always have Sand Dancers

on the beach

With their Roman masters gone, they felt they were where they belonged

Going back to home just wasn’t on

The locals all became good friends, sharing everything that they could reach

And if a red moon did arise, all the local natives eyes

We're watching the Sand Dancers on the beach

You can't change history, but here is what you will always see

We always have Sand Dancers on the beach

When the pillaging Scots Army came,

The Newcastle walls just stopped their game

George’s men all refusing to yield

So the Scots followed the Tyne

And at it’s mouth they could only find

Even more Sand Dancers dancing on the beach

You can't change history, but here is what you will always see

We always have Sand Dancers on the beach

We have fought the French since then

Two World war against German

And Ashington bring a World Cup home

We sang the Blaydon Races, for Wor Jackie’s FA Heroes

And Keegan the Messiah, to entertain the lads until closing time

You can't change history, but here is what you will always see

We always have Sand Dancers on the beach

Now 2020 has arrived, to see the city drowning in tears

United strung up to whims of a Cockney swine

And then from out the blue, there came the vital news

At last the Cockney would be on his way

The new owners stood to answer

Rescued by an old Sand Dancer

Camels love the beach down on the Tyne

You can't change history, but here is what you will always see

We always have Sand Dancers on the beach
