Ramblings of a Northern Girl - PD in Poetry 2023 - Week 1 - The Last Light

The last of the flickering Christmas lights

Shape the dawn of a new day, new hope, new being,

Illuminating pathways yet to be discovered,

Giving direction to live life with forward momentum.

Pay attention to the tolls we pay for love and loss,

Breathe in the startling fresh air of the day.

It beckons you to begin again, no reverse.

This time, this year, acknowledges this time, last year.

Step by hesitant step, the future finds you,

Standing tall in the emerging light
