Oskie is barking
In Lanzarote the Oscar won by Rhi
Came from the barking female cat-egory
Doggedly exuberant Oskie was in place
In the wardrobe or top of the bookcase
Hot foot this cat was no mere boaster
Standing above bagels popped from the toaster
By the boiling kettle and over the hob
Health and safety was just not her job
In the bathroom beware of using the sink
Or urination if Oskie wants a drink
She won’t give up, has determination
Her face in your glass causes consternation
Any wire or cord maybe a snake to be killed
With my shoelaces was completely thrilled
Everything a toy caused Oskie a play backlog
This was this was the reign of the cats but not dogs
Oskie has 9 lives the big ball of fluff
Tickle her belly and find if she is tough
She will lay on her blanket if put on your lap
As she dreams of water that runs from the tap
This is my daughters cat Oskie. We met recently when I visitedmy daughter in Lanzarote
I like the narrative within the poem. Your word choice evoked good imagery. It is a lovely “good feel” poem.
Cats are a great inspiration for writing. Love it!
I love Oskie!
