ODE TO NAPS

Writer: Alice CarrollAlice Carroll

Oh snap, how I love naps.

View them as therapy for PD, perhaps.

Naps make “on” times more “on.”

PD symptoms vary, so pick a style that suits the occasion.

Catnap on the sofa or recliner, with music playing.

or seriously nap, in bed with the white noise whirring.

Oh snap, how I love naps.

Scheduling naps is a difficult task.

Planning around meds, meals, and games.

Accept that I’m not missing much or nearly being out of touch.

Independent senior living evening meals draw parades

of walker, scooter, and wheelchair brigades.

Naps help Parkies to be more alert to socially interact.

Less likely to nod off mid-sentence, with mouth agape.

Allowing drool to ooze down the chin.

Leaving clothes soaking wet.

A social pariah of the senior set.

Oh snap, how I love naps.

We’ve always called it a ‘pensioner’s ’ it’s a half pensioners if you nap on top of the bed or in a chair and it’s a full pensioner’s if you get in bed under the covers. Read it, love it, smiled at it. Time for a nap

This ode was meant to be funny for the challenge. I'm losing my touch.

Brilliant! I rarely nap but now I' thinking I should try it.😁
