Sunsets

Updated: Oct 30

I've been around the world like Lisa Stansfield sang

I've seen the sun go down right here and as far flung as Penang.

It really matters little though about the where, its more the who.

Who you're with, side by side, sticking close like glue.

I've seen the aurora borealis through the window of a Jumbo Jet

Then watched another sun retreat as in Hong Kong we ate.

It was beautiful, stunning without a doubt

But I wasn't there with you, my captain, first mate and crew.

There was that time in Africa, Cape Town to be precise,

On safari, watching nocturnal beasts feed as darkness loomed

The mate watched on protecting their young , reminding me of you

Mated for life, supporting each other, lovingly consumed.

I'm proud of all the Sunsets seen , wouldn't have missed it for the world

Opportunities taken, memories stowed, all beyond my dreams.

Now my suitcase sits next to yours, adventures to behold

All the red skies, sunrises and sunsets together for us will unfold.
