Forward: Mr Frazer was my teacher in my final year of Primary School
I could never picture Mr Frazer
aka ‘Sir’
Playing tennis.
He just didn’t seem the type
to wear whites
or wield a racket.
And yet,
on a shelf in the art cupboard,
behind the pens and the glue
was a single white tennis shoe.
Dunlop Green Flash,
size nine.
That shoe rarely saw the light of day,
but it’s presence filled every crevice in the room
with subjugated silence.
We all knew it was there even though
none of us had felt it yet.
This is excellent. Memories of the slipper linger long!
