I’ve been treed

There was a family tree, the folks wanted to see.

“Are we kin to royalty?” they asked with glee.

Not one tycoon on a branch?

Not an owner of a ranch?

No fortune in this tree. Keep playing the lottery.

“I’ve been treed” phrase used to describe paying lots of money to genealogy organizations, promoting false hopes that you will suddenly become rich being related to someone who is wealthy.
