I'm so agreeable, friendly and polite -
In the manner of 'Sergeant Wilson'.
An old-time, affable English type,
Who greeted every situation with,
'That's so awfully nice!'
Yet Wilson got up his captain's nose.
Who found that superior, old-boy, pose
To be so awfully condescending.
That word, 'nice' -
Passive-aggressive,
Supercilious, hypocritical;
The lazy person's adjective,
Too vague and too bland.
So I assert that, in spite of my mien,
An amiable manner can contain great spleen.
'English insincerity', seldom says what it means -
And
I'm not NICE!
Nice one John!
Love the Captain Wilson reference, a brilliant take on the word 'nice'.
A delight to read! I don't know where on the 'Nice' scale you truly lie John, but I can say with certainty, from a place where they call 'a spade, a shovel' that it's always a pleasure to be in your company.
Thanks for the heads up on the meaning of nice.
I’ll be careful in the use of nice in the future.
As far I can tell, brilliant is the best, excellent is second best, lovely is average, and nice is one step up from being a total failure.
