I wrote this in the fab1960s ...
People have such sad delusions.
I don't know how they reach conclusions -
They're all convinced us kids are
Going to pot...
But when moguls made those war-time movies,
Our mums and dads were almost groovy,
And their folks said,'Now you behave -
And stop foolin' around!'
Of course they ought
To realise by now
It's just a variation on
That age-old theme
Of young bears young
And then grows old -
And young grows up again -
But they all enjoy the same games
In between!
I like the way you've used rhythm and rhyme here. Well done
I wish I could find it but I had poster on my wall when I was a teacher - It was a series of quotes form a variety of great philosophers from ancient times to the present day - all essentially complains about the same thing 'The youth of today'
Sound words John. The kids today think they that us oldies know nothing but the reality is that we have seen it, done it and bought the tee shirt long, long ago! 😉
😎 Thanks Nigel! Yooth!. We seldom thought about our parents' feelings...I am now a sort of buffer between our teenagers and their parents.
I enjoyed this John, made me think. I remember at about the time of the image, hopping on a train to Freiburg, Germany, gave my folks a couple of days notice, a minor act of rebellion. I've told the full tale for years, until last year when my 92y mum told me how worried & scared they'd been. In our youth we're never as mature as we think we are. Thank you John
