broken bridges

Broken bridges

Bridges break for all reasons and seasons.

Maybe, the supports are weaker,

Maybe, the load was just too oppressive.

Maybe, deliberately sabotaged

It doesn’t matter why the bridge broke.

It’s broken.

Some bridges are unrepairable,

Too much fear they will not hold.

Look at the bridge again

Maybe appears distant and silent, but it’s still there

Waiting for you, not to judge it for purpose.

Bridges can be rebuilt stronger, differently

That bridge has carried peoples dreams and hopes.

Standing many more years than you

Enjoy the challenge or stand back.

Just enjoy it’s presence.

I have a fascination with bridges, so this has great appeal on may levels.

Hi Debbie, Food for thought as usual. A friendship bridge was broken with me and my last words to him was 'some bridges cant be mended'.

What an interesting poem. Made me think about real bridges, bridges between people, even nations. Thank you
